Food chain is a diagram or a single sequence that describes the who-eats-who of organisms in the wild. Food chain can also describe the transfer of energy flow from one organism to other. Learning the nutrients transfer between organisms are important to determine the balance of nutrient flow in the food chain.

Food web on the other hand is a series of multiple food chains present in a single ecosystem. Each different food chains are connected with each other as the process of nutrient transfer are at work. All the overlapping and interconnection between different food chain in an ecosystem make up one whole food web.
